I've been getting several dozens of spam registration requests daily, so for now if you want to join the forum, please email me at:  waiter @ waitertalk.com.  Include the login name you'd like and the initial password.

This board is whatever the members want it to be.  I am pretty much keeping a hand's off approach (I will delete advertisments when I see them, and ban the poster too).

It's good to have a space for waiters online.

Can a restaurant legally force a server to pay for a customer's bill becasue the payment was processed in correctly? I was forced to pay a 180$ tab becasue I incorrectly processed a coupon and it wiped out customer's credit card information. please help me if you know the answer.

The hours are short and the money is good.  You get to meet a wide variety of people, and the ones that are annoying will be gone within an hour!  It's much easier to get hired in a chain restaurant than a fine dining establishment, especially when you don't have experience.  I can recommend Outback Steakhouse - but you'll have to go through several interviews and tests.  And when you have restaurant experience, you'll never be out of work - someone is always hiring.

I am thinking of being a waiter and I was wondering, what is so great about being a waiter. Do you or don't you enjoy it. And is so, why do you enjoy being a waiter/waitress?

Further more, waht are some good places to work. (like Ruby Tuesdays or Friendlys etc)

Seeing how Outback was my last restaurant job ....

It's a fun place to work, with pretty decent mid-priced food.  As far as tips go, you'll make more as a bartender - but it really depends on the area your Outback is in.  Apply at one in a more affluent area if you have that option.  Also don't be daunted by the hiring process !

I am considering a job as a waiter to supplement my income.  Does anyone have experience at Outback Steakhouse?  If so, what is an average weekend night of tips?  What about during the week?  And was it a good place to work, etc.?  Also, what about being a bartender instead of a server?  Better job?  More fun?  More money?  Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
