Forced to pay the tab

Can a restaurant legally force a server to pay for a customer's bill becasue the payment was processed in correctly? I was forced to pay a 180$ tab becasue I incorrectly processed a coupon and it wiped out customer's credit card information. please help me if you know the answer.
